Pairing Innovative Intelligence w/ Emotional Intelligence is Vital to Success

You may be wondering where knowledge and experience comes into play? Of course each add value to the equation, but both must give way to II, lest all the knowledge and experience in the world will be a deficit to an organization's capture and execution of the best innovation possible. A Moneyball philosophy or opportunity, as I previously wrote about, must be embraced by an organization. Leaders that have a high level of EI, experience and industry knowledge can be Dysfunctional Dinosaurs and work against the organization objectives. When Emotional Intelligence is paired with Innovative Intelligence it makes for a one-two punch that is hard to derail. But yet this 'Dynamic Duo' is derailed everyday. How does this happen?
An unbridled drive for power and money, pride, and a lack of humility by veteran executives, high IQ executives or technical leaders blinds them from developing innovation themselves and from seeing or supporting it in others.
Such can block the very innovation that is needed for an organization to succeed. Innovators are mostly concerned about achievement and have solutions to solve problems. Dysfunctional Dinosaurs are almost exclusively concerned about power, money and offer no substantial, viable solutions to solve customer problems.
So how does the miracle come together? When a paradigm-shift imposes upon an ecosystem, organizations must adjust in equal measure to the radical change. To view lessons in adaptation and the pairing emotional and innovative intelligence begin by watching the movie Remember The Titans, then move onto the movie Miracle and finish up with Moneyball and 42. If you can't see the how EI is paired with II, through these examples, then you may be doomed to extinction. These stories are in constant replay in every walk of life in businesses large and small and will always be what true champions are all about. And yes things really are this simple.
